SBS’s “2011 Drama Awards” ended the year by awarding actor Han Suk Gyu with the Daesang.
Han Suk Gyu was recognized for his outstanding portrayal of King Sejong in the historical series, ‘Tree With Deep Roots‘. After accepting the trophy, the actor said, “First, I would like to thank my parents. I thank my parents who have given me everything from my voice to inner spirituality.”
He continued, “As an actor, there are a few things that are very important. One is the script, I feel thankful towards the scriptwriters. Next is the stage. I thank all the officials who created the set. Last is the audience. There are actors because there are people who watch. I sincerely thank the audience who steadfastly gave their support and love. Personally, if I were to add one more, it would be [to thank] my colleagues whom I worked alongside with.”
He added, “After working year after year, you begin to learn how precious your colleagues are. I think I received this big award on behalf of all my colleagues who participated in ‘Tree with Deep Roots’. I thank you“.

The level of attention is rising high for this award, especially since it includes real life couple Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young under the ‘City Hunter‘ category.
Speaking through TV Report, Lee Min Ho’s representatives stated, “Just the fact that he’s been nominated is enough for him to want to attend. He’s currently going through other dramas and movies at the moment.”
Representatives of Park Min Young added, “She’s filming ‘Man of Honor‘ so we don’t know whether she’ll be able to make it, but we are sure that she’ll go if her schedule lines up.”

Actors Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee, who played the much-loved couple of SBS‘s ‘Protect the Boss‘, will come together again to co-MC SBS’s ‘2011 Drama Awards’.
On December 17th, SBS disclosed, “Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee will be MCing the awards ceremony. They’ve shown their chemistry through ‘Protect the Boss’, so we’re looking forward to seeing how they’ll work together as MCs for the event.”
Many are expecting a smooth performance from the couple, since Choi Kang Hee has experience as a DJ while Ji Sung has emceed for programs like ‘Music Bank‘.
SBS has revealed that there will be a final third MC joining them, who will be announced at a later date.
The ’2011 SBS Drama Awards’ will air on December 31st.
