On January 13th, girl group T-ara topped Billboard Korea‘s K-Pop Hot 100 chart with their new single, “Lovey-Dovey“.
“Lovey-Dovey” was released on the 3rd and has been sweeping numerous music charts since with its infectious dance melody.
The girls also grabbed third place along with labelmates Davichi for “We Were In Love“. Meanwhile, Dynamic Duo came in 2nd with ”Without You” from the second part of their sixth album, ‘DIGILOG 2/2‘.

16 December:

Singer IU has been maintaining an impressive 1st rank on Billboard‘s ‘KPop Hot 100‘ chart for the past two weeks.
According to the chart revealed on December 16th, IU’s ‘You & I‘ placed first on Billboard’s ‘Kpop Hot 100′ chart. This comes as no surprise considering that the singer has dominated music charts in Korea with the release of her album, and has been going strong ever since.
Runner up on the ‘Kpop Hot 100′ chart was awarded to Hyunseung and HyunA‘s ‘Trouble Maker‘ while T-ara‘s ‘Cry Cry‘ grabbed third.
Other top listers included Wonder Girls and Huh Gak LE(EXID) who took fourth and fifth respectively.

When “Hello” was first released on the 16th of this month, it topped the Korean music charts as number and even now it’s still placed on the top of many charts. On top of sweeping all of the Korean online music charts, Huh Gak placed number one on the American Billboard KPOP chart as well, showing his ‘super star’ qualifications.

25 August:
SISTAR has topped the brand new Billboard K-Pop Hot 100.

We first mentioned Billboard Korea and the potential for a new chart back in 2009 and now the chart has finally launched.
On the inaugural chart, SISTAR’s “So cool” beat out popular 2NE1’s “Ugly” and miss A’s “Good Bye Baby.”
Debuting last year with “Push Push,” “Shady Girl,” and “How Dare You“, the ladies of SISTAR have established themselves as one of the top artists in Korea.
Here’s what Billboard wrote about their new chart:
The Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart, launched in conjunction with Billboard Korea, is based on digital sales via leading websites as well as downloads from mobile service sites using an industry-standard formula and the most credible music data sources within Korea. The K-Pop Hot 100 debuts simultaneously here on Billboard.com, in the international chart section of Billboard.biz, in Billboard magazine, and also on Billboard Korea’s website, billboard.co.kr.
“The launch of the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart is a milestone event, as it will provide the Korean music market with what we believe is Korea’s most accurate and relevant song ranking,” says Silvio Pietroluongo, Billboard’s Director of Charts. “We’re excited to be expanding Billboard’s globally recognized Hot 100 chart franchise into this country, and look forward to enhancing the K-Pop Hot 100 chart in the near future with additional data as well as creating new charts that showcase the breadth of Korean music.”
