Actor Jang Hyuk recently revealed the inspiration behind his stage name.
On this week’s episode of SBS‘s ‘Healing Camp’, Jang Hyuk confessed that he borrowed his manager’s name for his own.
Since the segment talked about his 17-year friendship with his manager, a letter addressed to Jang Hyuk from his manager was read out loud on the show. The letter was signed “Jang Hyuk hyung” at the bottom, which led the MCs of the show to deduce that the manager’s name was also Jang Hyuk.
Jang Hyuk revealed, “My real name is Jung Yong Joon. Jang Hyuk was taken from my manager’s actual name.”
He continued, “I was cast in a drama at the age of 20 and thought I was all that. I practiced signing ‘Jung Yong Joon’ everyday. However, one day, I heard people call out to my manager saying, ‘Jang Hyuk’. I thought it sounded pretty good, so I decided to use Jang Hyuk as my stage name. That’s why my signature from my early debut days looks awkward.”
He then went on to talk more about his manager and his agency. “I’ve been with the same agency since my debut 17 years ago. I’m so thankful that even when everyone told me I wasn’t going to make it, they believed in me and cheered me on.”
In related news, Jang Hyuk is currently starring in the new SBS drama, ‘Deep-Rooted Tree‘.
12 September:
On the most recent episode of SBS‘s ‘Healing Camp‘, host Kim Jae Dong appeared as a guest. During a segment called “I miss you, friend,” Kim called singer Lee Hyori, who is known to be one of his good friends.
Unfortunately for Kim Jae Dong, it seems Hyori didn’t miss him very much. When he called asking,“Hyori, what are you doing?” Hyori answered coolly, “Uh-huh, what do you want?”
He went on, “Let’s have a drink [some time].” Hyori replied, “What? You have to reserve a day to drink? Call me the day before, I’ll come out if I have time,” causing laughter amongst the guests with her chic reply.
Kim ended the phone call by saying, “Okay, I’ll give you a call, Hyori,” to which she answered, “Uh-huh,” while hanging up abruptly. The guests then heard Kim’s phone emit the busy signal, causing hostLee Kyung Kyu to joke, “Why are you living like this?”
Although he is hailed as one of the most talented male vocalists currently out there, his looks, especially his small eyes, have been the subject of jokes on various variety programs. Rather than feeling insecure, Kim Tae Woo revealed that he is confident about the way he looks.
On SBS’s ‘Healing Camp’ that aired on the 12th, Kim Tae Woo stated, “There is a lot of talk about Sung Shi Kyung, Kim Tae Woo, and Pororo’s eyes.. but if you think about it, double eyelids and big eyes do not match this face.”
During a segment of the show where he wrote a letter to himself, he revealed, “Even when Jin Young (J.Y. Park) hyung talked to me about plastic surgery, I sternly told him, ‘Hyung, if I have to get plastic surgery, I will quit being a singer’.”
He also boosted his self confidence by telling himself, “Kim Tae Woo, I love your eyes” and “You have a really good looking face.”
23 August:
Actor Cha Tae Hyun recently talked about the struggles he suffered in the past because of his panic disorder.
On August 22nd, Cha Tae Hyun came on SBS’s ‘Healing Camp, Aren’t You Happy‘ as the sixth guest, and shared his story about how he’s haunted by the affliction.
Cha Tae Hyun began, “In the year 2004, Rain was talking to me about a new drama he was starring in while I was in the drama, ‘Prince’s First Love‘, which had a 20% viewership rating with its first episode alone.”
He added, “Rain’s drama was on at the same time slot as my drama; I felt bad for Rain, but still encouraged him to pursue it. I found out later that the drama’s original film was very popular.”
“In the end, ‘Prince’s First Love’ went down to 11% in viewership ratings and my panic disorder worsened“.
Cha Tae Hyun also said, “In 2003, I was chosen as the MC in a big concert in America, but I fainted 30 minutes before the first half of the show. That was when my panic disorder was at its worst“.
He continued, “I thought to myself that I couldn’t mess up such a big event, and decided that I was going to emcee starting in the second half. I ended up doing the show, but after that, I couldn’t MC on any kind of stage“.

A hilarious, if slightly grotesque, story was recently shared by actress Han Hye Jin about actor Cha Tae Hyun.
On the August 22nd episode of SBS’s entertainment program, “Healing Camp“, Cha Tae Hyun appeared as the sixth guest and shared stories that were both witty and personal.
On the episode, MC Han Hye Jin brought up their prior acquaintance, but Cha Tae Hyun replied, “Nice to meet you for the first time.” Responding, Han Hye Jin reminded Cha, “We filmed a chicken commercial together when we were rookies,” and Cha laughed as he recalled their former project.
But Han wasn’t finished.
She began to retell her first impression of Cha Tae Hyun, saying, “I coincidentally got in the same car with Cha Tae Hyun when I was in high school, on my way to the hair salon. During the ride, Cha Tae Hyun had his foot on the car window, and he was cleaning his toenails.”
Han Hye Jin then went on to imitate Cha Tae Hyun’s pose, and the audience howled over Cha Tae Hyun’s flustered expression.
Cha Tae Hyun replied, “I have no memory of this incident… If I did, I wouldn’t have appeared on this show”, causing another round of laughter.
2 August:
On the August 1st episode of SBS’s ‘Healing Camp‘, actor Ji Sung decided to share some cute stories from his 4-year relationship with actress Lee Bo Young.
During the show, a person commented that Ji Sung seemed like someone who would act cute and charming towards his girlfriend. He confessed, “Actually that’s true. When she is unhappy about something, I will try to act cute by doing things like puffing up my cheeks to cheer her up“.
He continued, “I also sing her songs before she goes to bed“, and sweetly sang the popular song “It’s Fortunate” by Lee Juk on the spot, causing an envious reaction from female MC Han Hye Jin.
Ji Sung also talked about the fireworks event he once threw for his girlfriend, saying, “On my girlfriend’s birthday, I wanted to throw her a fireworks show that she could watch from her balcony. I went ahead with the plan even though I knew that the neighbors would complain if it occurred too late at night.”
He continued, “My manager and I prepared fifty firecrackers in front of her home and lit them. My girlfriend expressed that what touched her more than the event itself was the scene of my manager and I running away in case the police came.”
The happy couple first started dating in 2007 after meeting on the set of SBS’s drama, ‘Save the Last Dance for Me‘, and have been in a relationship for the past four years.
Meanwhile, Ji Sung is currently busy filming for the upcoming SBS drama, ‘Protect the Boss‘.
