After serving as a co-MC and supporting act for numerous programs over the years, entertainer Boomhas finally been selected to be the main MC of a new TV show!
MBC is readying to launch their new program, ‘Club 1999‘ on February 11th, and for the first time since his debut, Boom has been selected to be the main MC for the show.
‘Club 1999′ is a music variety program which honors and remembers the biggest stars of the 90′s.
‘Club 1999′ staff members explained their choice by saying, “Boom has debuted as a singer at one point, and he has endless passion for music and entertainment. He’s built up a lot of experience over the years, and with his youthful charm, he will be able to well in leading the show.”
The new MC celebrated his position by tweeting, “I, Boom, have finally opened a club!!! So busy, busy in this society!! Those of you in society who are exhausted, come relive some stress at Boom’s club^^* Lets go, party time!!!”
Looks like his hard work is paying off. Congratulations, Boom!

miss A‘s Suzy has made a believable transformation into a delinquent male student.
Entertainer Boom tweeted this photo on January 27th and wrote, ”Boom vs. Suzy. Who’s prettier? My pretty and sweet dongseng Suzy, who looks good in everything, and Boom-sook [a feminine play on his name] wearing an old-school uniform. Then I guess we can call Suzy… ‘Su-hyuk’ [masculine name]?”
Both Suzy and Boom took a stab at cross-dressing, with Boom trying to look like a shy high-school girl from back in the day while Suzy gives off her best ‘tough guy’ impersonation. Boom made fans laugh with his attempt at a sweet expression, but it was Suzy who brought home the applause with her scowl and expression that was on-point with her character.

MC Boom has a variety of skills and achievements listed in his resume, and it looks like he can add ‘Bowling Teacher’ to that list.
Recently, Boom uploaded a photo onto his Twitter page saying, “Boom in teaching material for a bowling class? It really does look like me. Its raining everyone, be safe! Fighting”
He then shared a scan from a bowling tutorial manual, which caused netizens to crack up immediately. The cartoon had facial features that looked remarkably similar to Boom’s, such as his nose and lips.
Netizens responded, “It really does look like you” and “You’re slowly taking over the nation!”

Boom made his long awaited comeback on SBS’s Strong Heart and to help celebrate this, they created a special song and MV titled, “Boom’s Back“.
The MV is a delight treat for all of his fans and features a cameo appearance from the boys ofINFINITE.

On August 29th, Boom shared the photo shown above with his fans, along with the tweet, “Let’s do it together. Idols, Boom will hold you in his arms. Let’s work towards making a bright entertainment, fighting.”
In the photo, Boom is standing with his eyes closed and arms wide open in front of a poster that reads, “Welcome Boom-nim, ssanti (slang for cheap or crazy) that penetrates the heart.”

Entertainer Boom was recently discharged from the army, and is currently getting ready to retake the industry with his numerous new jobs. Now that he’s taken up two new positions as an MC and a DJ, many began to wonder how he’d find the time to nurture his relationship. Unfortunately, it seems that he’s broken up with his girlfriend.
According to a source in the entertainment field, Boom and his girlfriend ended their relationship while he was serving his country towards the end of 2010. Because Boom couldn’t see his girlfriend often, and since his girlfriend was busy with her personal life, they naturally ended their relationship.
A representative from Boom’s agency stated, “Boom and his girlfriend’s relationship ended midway through Boom’s military service. Why and when they broke up is something we don’t know.”
Before being enlisted in the army, Boom proudly revealed his relationship through a TV show. During a press conference, he said that, “I got on my knees and begged my girlfriend to wait for me”. He later shared his pet name for his girlfriend, ‘my sobbabba‘, during SBS’s Entertainment Awards, where he received the rookie award in the variety field.
Boom said that “At the training camp, I received 17 letters from my girlfriend”, and asserted that there were no problems in their love, just that they couldn’t maintain it during his two years away from civilian life.
22 August:
On August 22nd, rapper/MC Boom finally completed his two years of military service, and was welcomed back by hundreds of fans and reporters at the gate.
The producers of SBS’s ‘Strong Heart‘ had prepared a special banner that read “BOOM’S BACK” near the area. Before officially making his exit, Boom bid his farewell to his fellow celebrity soldiers, Lee Junki, Kim Ji Suk, Lee Dong Gun, Andy, and Park Hyo Shin. The group was seen hugging and shaking hands, congratulating Boom on his discharge.
‘Boom Academy’ members Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, as well as singer Jay Park greeted Boom once he finally stepped outside. When asked how he felt, he replied, “I trained my hardest, knowing that it’s my duty to my nation. Now I believe that my duty is to bring happiness and joy to our citizens, so I will be using what I learned in the army to passionately make everyone laugh on TV.”
When asked if he had prepared any variety skills while serving, Boom replied, “A lot of people were probably curious about that, but I was dutiful to my training and watched variety shows whenever I had the time. I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare any personal skills, but I do have about 1,000 ideas.”
Commenting on his actual service, he said, “I’m grateful to my time in the army because it allowed me to see and understand myself for who I truly am. What I felt within my service was that the Korean army is stronger than what’s perceived externally. I hope that everyone puts their trust in us and lives happily.”
Boom then told Leeteuk, “I think it’s fortunate that you protected ‘Strong Heart’ until my discharge. Thank you so much for giving me so much love before and after my service.”
Concluding his interview, he said, “My goal is to now hold on tight to the hands of my juniors and slowly walk forward. I’ll be walking forward with the big steps I learned in the army.”
Boom will be returning to ‘Strong Heart’ on September 1st in addition to DJing for SBS’s ‘Young Street‘.

It was announced on August 19th that soon-to-be civilian Boom has been appointed the permanent DJ position SBS’s Young Street radio program.
Boom will be the sole DJ for the radio program and will begin his first live broadcast from September 1st. He will given the reins of the program after he gets discharged from the military. The show was previously DJed by Super Junior’s Heechul, who left this past June, and the position is currently being held temporarily by ZE:A’s Kwanghee and Jewelry’s Ye Won.
There’s much anticipation for Boom’s discharge, which takes place on August 22nd. He’s already had line up several jobs upon his return, including being a cast member on SBS’s Star King and emceeing MBC’s 3rd Idol Stars Athletic Championships.
1 August:
Multi-entertainer Boom plans to return to SBS’s ‘Strong Heart‘ as soon as he gets discharged from the army.
Boon will be discharged on August 22nd and will be attending his comeback ‘Strong Heart’ recording on the 25th. On August 1st, ‘Strong Heart’’s PD Park Sang Hyuk revealed,
“Boom is scheduled to participate in the August 25th ‘Strong Heart’ recording.We have high expectations for Boom’s discharge. We trust and are confident that Boom’s variety sense hasn’t died. We believe that he will be variety’s new energizer for the latter half of 2011.The recording on the 25th will be the ‘Boom’s Discharge Special’.“
Boom enlisted in the army on October 27th, 2009 and served alongside other celebrity soldiers includingLee Dong Gun, Lee Jun Ki, Kim Ji Suk, and Shinhwa’s Andy.
