JYJ 2012

13 Mar:
After successfully completing a year of their world tour, JYJ has revealed that they will now be focusing on their individual activities and the release of their second official English album in the second half of the year.

On March 13th, C-JeS Entertainment revealed that 6,000 fans showed up to watch JYJ perform in Peru. For over a week, fans had been camping outside the concert hall awaiting the boys’ arrival and their show. Their dreams were met for even after it was all over, they were reported to have been chanting for more.
For the past year, the boys have toured a total of 15 different cities and performed for a 210,000 member audience, completely selling out 12 of those cities and recording 80% higher ticketing rates than the average.
CEO Baek Chang Joo expressed, “JYJ will be focusing on their album production and their individual activities for now. In the second half of the year, they will release a second English album.”
He continued, “This world tour was possible only because it was JYJ. Their popularity is great enough to be able to open a concert anywhere in the world. Through this, they earned confidence and know-how, which is one of the many reasons why I’m looking for their world tour next year.”

10 Mar:

Major media outlets of Chile have just experienced the spread of K-pop.
Before the opening of JYJ‘s solo concert on March 9th, major daily newspapers like the ‘Las Ultimas Noticias‘ covered the boys preparing for the show from the minute they arrived at the international airport.
‘Las Ultimas Noticias’ is considered one of the most influential newspapers in Chile in terms of public recognition. Under the title “Crazy for Korean group JYJ,” the paper reported, “After 40 hours, JYJ, a group that has reached the top of the world, has finally landed in Chile. Despite their arrival being in the early morning, so many fans arrived that police had to come on to the scene for security measures.”
They also went on to touch on JYJ’s social media activities and their surprise on the amount of popularity Asian artists have within their country.
Other media representatives that attended JYJ’s press conference stated, “Not only fans, but a lot of other people have begun to listen to Korean music. K-Pop is no longer staying in the enclosure of its fans, but is reaching the level where everyone is taking an interest in it.”

8 Mar:

JYJ attended a press conference before their first ever South American concert on March 8th (local time), and addressed the controversy surrounding the group, and their thoughts about holding their first South American concert.
The group has found themselves the most talked about topic of the week with audio files, recorded back in 2009, belatedly being revealed to the public on March 6th.
The members entered the press conference with dark expressions on their faces. The boys began by revealing some of the hardships they had endured due to the actions of sasaeng fans. “Ever since debuting in 2004, we suffered from sasaeng fans everyday for eight years.”
Yoochun stated, “Having someone watching me every second, and following me around wanting to share every thing, is like being in a prison without bars.”
Junsu also added sadly, “They exposed all our phone calls, GPS-tracked our cars and secretly chased us around, and even frequently broke in and took pictures of our personal items. They even tried to kiss me while I was sleeping, and they even caused a minor collision between their taxi and the car we were in to try to see my face. A fear choking the breath out of me would wash over me everyday, and I just want to at least live like a person through this indescribable suffering.”
The group then issued an official apology for their past actions and causing their fans to worry with the outbreak of the controversy. Jaejoong, stated, “I’m sorry for my wrong doings in the past… I’m sorry that many fans have been heart-sick due to this issue. From now on, no matter how mentally hard, or how far beyond the limit the situation is, we will think about all the people who love us, and for them we will not falter and fulfill our responsibility as public figures.”
-
The group then went on to discuss their thoughts and feelings on becoming the first ever Korean artist to hold their own concert in Chile (March 9th) and Peru (March 11th).
Junsu stated, “I’m so surprised that we have many fans in Chile and Peru, where we have never visited before, and so happy that we can perform here.”
Jaejoong added, “We never thought we’d be able to come to South America. It was hard to believe that there were fans here who liked our music, but after seeing all the fans who came to greet us at the airport, we’ve come to believe it.”
With the problems they experienced on their journey as a bird got sucked into the propellers of the plane that was supposed to carry them from LA to Chile, the members lightheartedly stated, “We hope there will be a flight that goes directly from Korea to South America.”
Jaejoong revealed their future hopes as he stated, “Until a few years ago, even if we performed just in Asia and one place in the U.S., the term ‘word tour’ was used. However, we have traveled all over the world including Asia, Europe, U.S., and South America. We take pride in having a true world tour. Having come to South America, we feel that there are even more countries to visit. We look forward to our second, and even third world tour.”
In related news, the group’s concerts have drawn much attention from the locals as well as the media. As if to evidence their popularity, 400 fans showed up at the airport to see the group arrive at the airport.

6 Mar:
JYJ are heading off to South America for their world tour.

On March 6th, Park Yoochun uploaded a picture of him and Junsu on the plane and along with it wrote, “We’ll have a good trip~ ^^.
They are both dressed in the typical airport style fashion adorning sunglasses, but what captured people’s eyes the most was Junsu. Junsu’s hair is dyed bright blond for his role in the musical ‘Elizabeth’, and he is also wearing unique rings along with a black manicure.
Fans responded to this picture saying, “Have a nice trip~“, “You guys are so cool“, and “I hope you do well at your concert fighting!
On another note, JYJ excited fans by writing on their official facebook, “Please look forward to JYJ’s shuffle dance. For the world tour’s finale, a remix version of ‘Get Out’ will include a dance!

Dispatch released an article earlier today titled, “JYJ, Acquisition of Fan-Violence Audio Recordings… ‘Kim Jaejoong – Park Yoochun, Cussing and Hitting”, accounting the acts of violence and the cussing by the JYJ members against saseng fans (fans that go way beyond the norm, and invade the privacy of celebrities by stalking their every move). The article has become the hottest topic of the day with the comments section blowing up into a battleground of differing opinions on the issue.
The article states that the rumors that have been circulating about the violence against fans by the JYJ members are indeed true, for Dispatch has been tracking the issue for a long time, and have finally acquired the audio files as evidence.
The audio files that Dispatch has acquired contain the voices of the JYJ members who seem to find their privacy invaded by saseng fans. Jaejoong’s file is the longest totaling around 10 minutes, while Yoochun’s 10 second clip is short but filled with swearing. Junsu’s file does not contain any cussing, but instead he is heard pleading with these saseng fans.
‘Dispatch’ states that they first started investigating upon this issue back in February with the surfacing of the video clip of Yoochun supposedly hitting a fan. However, at the time, JYJ’s agency denied accusations, stating, “It was not Park Yoochun who committed the act of violence.” According to Dispatch, they have found their investigations state otherwise, and after having met with ten fans, they have discovered that Jaejoong and Yoochun have repeatedly cussed and hit fans in the past.
-
Listen to the audio clips here: (1)(2)(3)(4)
In the first audio clip, Yoochun is heard swearing into the phone after a fan calls his cell phone and asks if it is him. The clip switches to Jaejoong swearing at a group of fans following him around. He states,“You guys follow me around…. This is fun isn’t it, it’s probably really fun for you.. Because of you.. Because of you… You are saseng, you dog like bitches.” At this point in the clip (starting around 0:40 mark), smacking sounds are heard along with the saseng fans “Ahck”.
As he continues to rant, the fans seem to try to run away, but Jaejoong is heard saying, “Come back here, come back here before I catch you… Go, you bitch.” He also describes something that happened in the past with other saseng fans stating, “F*ck, I hit you once… so you complain that your face is swollen and can’t go home, asking me to compensate for damages, calling the police… you bitches. Is that a fan? You’re kidding yourselves. F*ck.”
Junsu’s voice comes on next as he is half pleads and half scolds the  fans. “Hey! You guys are even filming this? Huh? Fine, do whatever you want then.. Live the way you want to..”
In the second audio clip, we hear Jaejoong expressing his frustation even more as he states, “I would rather live a normal life so that my privacy won’t be invaded like this… Wherever I go, someone follows me around.. and wherever I go, someone calls me and asks ‘where are you?’ I always have to live with this fear… and having to try to run away as I live… Am I a criminal?” He continues on talking about the various scenarios he has faced such as one where these fans would even resort to trailing him in a taxi, as he swears at the saseng fans.
The third and fourth clip also contain similar material.
-
These saseng fans have followed these boys back in their TVXQ days, to no end. They would take a cab to follow around the memebers for the entire day. Jaejoong’s clip is from a night when he went out to get a drink and was trailed by these fans. Unable to tolerate it any further, he had lashed out at them.
One saseng fan stated, “I usually wait in front of oppas’ dorm, and when they move, I take a cab and follow after them… I wanted to see a side of them that others can’t see. I was ready to put up with the violence and the cussing. I just liked seeing them up close.”
With this mentality, saseng fans have been invading the private lives of celebrities. The members did lash out rather harshly, but at the same time, their frustration can be understood.
However, people have chimed in that no matter how far the saseng fans go, they are still fans. Thus, idols, who survive on the support of fans, are not justified in lashing out in such a way.
What do you think? Were the members wrong, or are they justified in lashing out at saseng fans?

JYJ has announced that they’ll soon be performing in South America!

On January 4th, C-Jes Entertainment revealed, “JYJ’s South American tour has been confirmed. JYJ’s solo concert will be held on March 9th in Chile followed by March 11th in Peru.”
The March 9th concert will be held in Santiago, Chile at the Teatro Caupolican, while the March 11th show will be held in Lima, Peru at the Explanada Sur del Estadio Monumental.
The South American promotion agency for JYJ remarked, “The popularity of JYJ in South America is in a different class altogether from the craze for K-Pop. Their popularity exceeds that of domestic artists as well as American pop artists, and they have the passionate support of teens as well as those in their 20′s.”
The JYJ members stated, “The countries are very far with flight times over 30 hours. After releasing an English album in 2010 with Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins, the amount of fans in the Americas have grown rapidly. Thus, although the [countries] are so far away, they have always felt familiar [to us].”
They continued, “During the 2010 Worldwide Album Showcase, many South American fans came to our concerts in cities like L.A. and San Francisco, and even to Europe; they’ve wanted us to come to South America for a long time. We are happy that we can keep our promise to our fans, and we will prepare a perfect performance to match the passion of South America.”
Baek Chang Joo, CEO of C-Jes, stated, “The K-Pop craze and JYJ’s happiness have different paths. …We don’t want this to be thought of as Hallyu’s new challenge. It’s not about about where one goes to hold their first overseas concert, it’s about how much substance and what kind of content is brought into the shows.”
He continued, “This is not a concert meant to try and gain new fans, this is a concert where we wanted to repay the JYJ fans for their love and support. For the South American fans who have waited so long, we will put on a well-made performance filled with JYJ’s vocals and amazing harmonies, as well as numerous other performances.”
